(WXYZ) — Consumers Energy is preparing for the winter storm this weekend that could cause power outages.
- Metro Detroit Forecast: Major impacts across Southeast Michigan from winter storm Saturday
- Winter driving checklist: What to remember during winter weather
The storm could bring heavy rain, freezing rain and sleet. The biggest concern for metro Detroit will be flooding and freezing rain/ice.
Consumers Energy says the storm will likely lead to downed wires and power outages that could last several days. Hazardous road conditions could delay restoration and damage assessment work.
The company is reminding the public to stay at least 25 feet away from downed wires, and to report them by calling 911 and Consumers Energy.
