(WXYZ) — There's a wild week of weather ahead for metro Detroit. First, temps will kick off in summer fashion with near-record heat on Monday - Tuesday. Then...fall makes a strong comeback with temps struggling just to stay in the 60s to close out the work week. Not to mention the multiple rounds of rain on the way.
The Battle Continues
"Back and forth" we go as usual with the transitional seasons like fall and spring. A series of fronts and upper level disturbances will be impacting Michigan's weather over the next 7 days and the 7 Day Forecast ahead says it all. It'll definitely be one of those weeks where you'll need everything from jackets to shorts.
Not the Prettiest Warm Up
Even though temps will be warmer this week, we are expecting a few doses of heavy rain. Initially, most of the rain will be convective with storms possible Monday and Tuesday night. Widespread severe weather is not anticipated but a few warnings will be possible. By Wednesday, a slow moving cold front will drop into southern Michigan keeping rain in the forecast through Thursday.
Since this front will take its time to cross the state, some heavy rainfall will be anticipated as it lifts a saturated air-mass.
Here Comes the "Cool"
Following the rain is a true "Fall Front", which will drop our temps by 25° or more in spots. The pattern associated with this new air-mass will be here for a while, meaning it's time to get the fall fashion ready with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s.
