A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Detroit metro area. Temps will continue to drop this evening near and beyond the freezing mark, which sets the stage for an icy Wednesday. The worst part of the day will be in the morning where up to 1/4 inch of ice will impact rush hour. Keep in mind, that road crews will be working around the clock to keep main roads and highways clear. This means secondary roads such as neighborhood streets may be dangerous and un-treated in the morning - drive ways especially.
With ice accumulations near 1/4" we're anticipating power outages in some areas, since the lines have difficulty holding the weight of ice that thick. This thickness could also bring down some tree branches as well.
Stay safe out there!
