TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — Troy police are investigating after a 61-year-old woman was found dead inside a mobile home on Wednesday night.
According to police, they were called to the home on Shelley inside the Troy Villa mobile home park at about 5:30 p.m. for a welfare check.
Officers learned that the 61-year-old woman hadn't been seen since Monday and attempts by her family to get in contact with her were unanswered. Officers couldn't find the woman and began treating it as a missing persons investigation.
According to police, officers went inside and found the woman dead inside the house. Police say that there had been "efforts made to conceal the body and obvious trauma was observed." It was apparent, they say, that she was murdered.
Investigators determined that the suspect knew the victim and was a relative of the victim, and they located that relative in Oak Park and took them into custody.
A second suspect, who lived at the Shelley address, was also brought in for further questioning.
According to police, there is no public safety threat at the time. They say the woman was a resident of troy for several years and there hadn't been any signiicant law enforcement contact at the address.
