ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WXYZ) — The 12 Mile and Gratiot intersection in Roseville is closed due to a crash.
Around 3:40 a.m., police say a Roseville Officer made a traffic stop of a Chevy Impala at Common Road for an equipment violation. As the officer walked up to the vehicle, the driver reportedly accelerated and went east on Common Road.
A short time later, police say an officer at Gratiot, north of 12 Mile, reported that there had been a crash at the intersection on 12 Mile and Gratiot. The suspect, identified as a 25-year-old St. Clair Shores man, was reported running away from the scene. He was subsequently taken into custody.
The driver of the vehicle that had been struck by the suspect was identified as a 49-year-old St. Clair Shores woman. Police say she is in critical condition.
Police say the intersection should be open by 10 a.m.
