TAYLOR. MICH. (WXYZ) — She lived next door to a murder suspect and lost everything.

Chelsea Dye was driving home to her apartment in Taylor Monday night when she saw smoke coming from the back. As she got closer to her unit in the back she was stopped by police. She saw Detroit Police, Taylor Police and a SWAT Team with guns drawn.

It turns out they were there to arrest her next door neighbor who was wanted in a Detroit murder. He turned it into a barricaded gunman.

Police used a flash bang grenade to roust him out. It started Chelsea’s apartment on fire. She watched it burn with her two young daughters in the car with her, Serenity age 7, Aroura age 3. She lost everything.

Without renter’s insurance the only ones to help her so far is the Red Cross, giving her enough help for a motel room and basic needs that will expire this week.

Her family set up this GoFundMe page.
