SOUTHWEST DETROIT — What a great way to kickoff National Hispanic Heritage Month! Wayne State University's Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies recently hosted its 48th Anniversary & Celebration. The crowded room at El Kiosko Banquet Hall was on hand to recognize accomplished students and community leaders. I had the pleasure of serving as emcee. Congratulations to Dr. Jorge Chinea, director of the center, putting together a splendid event and overseeing one of WSU's most successful academic support programs.
