DETROIT (WXYZ) — An 18-year-old Wayne State University student was gunned down early Saturday in the 18000 block of Cardoni in Detroit.

The student has been identified as Casey Willis.

Willis and an 18-year-old male were sitting inside a car just before 2 a.m. on Dec. 26 when two unknown men approached the vehicle, one armed with a long gun, and fired multiple shots into the car.

Willis was hit multiple times, police said.

The two suspects then fled the area heading south. It's believed that they got into a Chevy Impala and continued fleeing west on Nevada.

Medics arrived on the scene and declared Willis dead. No other injuries were reported.
