WXYZ DETROIT — Anthony J. D’Angelo is a noted author and inspirational leader. He once advised: “Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.”
We agree. The young men and women we honor this year as our Brightest & Best can look forward to very promising futures. This year, Channel 7 celebrates 40 years of paying tribute to metro Detroit high school seniors who have excelled in their classrooms. Nearly 200 very talented students, along with their families were invited to Broadcast House to be publicly recognized for their achievements.
They come from diverse backgrounds, schools and neighborhoods throughout Southeast Michigan. For many of them, they overcame extremely difficult obstacles to get to where they are today. But these scholars have at least one common trait, their thirst for knowledge and their determination to not let bumps in the road become permanent barriers.
We take great pride in celebrating their success. We invite you to go to WXYZ.com and check out the videos showcasing these amazing students. These scholars are the future leaders of our local communities, state and nation. They have worked hard and prepared themselves for the next exciting chapter in their lives.
We salute all of the Detroit area high school graduates this year, as well as the Brightest & Best Class of 2019. As Benjamin Franklin once said: “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
Congratulations!
I’m Mike Murri.
