WXYZ DETROIT — It’s a silver anniversary with plenty of shiny chrome to celebrate! The 25th Woodward Dream Cruise presented by Ford is only about a week away. Rev up your engines, gather the kids and let’s go back in time with the world’s largest one-day automotive event.
On Saturday, August 17, more than 1 million people and 40-thousand classic cars, street rods and special interest vehicles will stroll up and down historic Woodward Avenue. The nostalgic throwback will commemorate the 1950’s and 60’s. That’s when these steel beauties on wheels ruled American streets. Our love affair with cars and trucks is a great way to showcase Detroit – The Motor City – at its best!
We at Channel 7, are proud to be an official broadcast partner for the Cruise. We’ll cover the extravaganza from start to finish. On Cruise Saturday, we’ll air exclusive coverage from 7 – 9 pm. Our program will also be streamed live on WXYZ.com, our mobile app and on Facebook.
Car enthusiasts from Los Angeles to New York will also be able to enjoy the 16-mile cruise through 9 communities. And through a one-hour syndicated version of the program, 80 percent of U.S. households will be able to see and feel an exciting and revitalized Detroit.
All the excitement is about to begin. From Spotlight on the News to 7 Action News, our WXYZ team will bring it to you every day.
We congratulate retiring Dream Cruise Board Chairman Greg Rassel and Executive Director Tony Michaels for making this a unique, family-fun event that showcases Detroit’s proud history and inspires our promising future.
