#5 LOUI’S PIZZA (Hazel Park)

Loui’s Pizza in Hazel Park is 5th on our list. They're known for the decedent charred, thick-crust deep-dish pizza. Fasn describe the atmosphere as cozy and the pizza as “hands down the best pizza around." Food Network called it one of the best pizzas in the country.

#4 LA LANTERNA (Detroit)

La Lanterna, in the Albert Building off Capitol Park, comes in 4th. The Neapolitan-style brick oven pizza has been bringing in the crowds for decades. In addition to the classics, look for creative options like this herbed pizza bread topped with prosciutto, arugula in light lemon, with sundried, tomatoes, olives and burrata cheese!

#3 BUDDY’S PIZZA (Multiple Locations)

Buddy’s Pizza is 3rd on our list. When you say Detroit square style pizza, Buddy’s is where it all started. That was back in 1946. Today Buddy’s is still a metro Detroit favorite with a full line of signature, specialty, gluten-free and thin-crust pizzas.

#2 BRASS RAIL PIZZA BAR (Capitol Park - Detroit)

Brass Rail is a cool place for sports and a hot pizza. Enjoy the familiar like loaded veggie, cheese, and pepperoni or the new and fun like the "Wakey Wakey." Yes, those are sunny side up eggs, along with bacon and black angus strip steak. Quench your thirst with one of the 52 beers on draft – 45 made here in Michigan.

#1 SICILY’S PIZZERIA & SUBS (SW Detroit)

Sicily’s Pizzeria takes the top spot! This neighborhood take-out joint in southwest Detroit has been serving up old-world taste for more than three decades.

I tried their Sicily pizza and was wowed! This pie has pepperoni, meatball, red onion and green pepper. The taste was vibrant, the crust was flavorful and the texture was incredible. This neighborhood spot has people stopping in from the UP for their pizza. And with good, cheesy reason!

Sicily's Pizzeria is currently mostly a take-out spot, but they're expanding.

A full sit-down restaurant is coming soon for folks who want to dig into their favorite pizza as soon as it comes out of the oven.
