(WXYZ) — Every year there is a surge of marriage proposals during the holidays and Valentine's Day. And with those holidays in the rearview mirror, it's time to start planning those weddings!
So we asked our 7 Action News viewers to weigh in on the best wedding venues in metro Detroit. And they come up with quite a list, everything from classic to industrial to historical to nautical.

6th is The Whitney in Midtown Detroit. Opulence is the name of the game at this Gilded Age mansion with pink marble and 20 fireplaces. The Tiffany-stained glass windows are great spots for wedding pictures. Metro Detroiter Biba Adams thinks The Whitney is the perfect wedding spot.
"It's beautiful," she says. "Look how Gothic and beautiful the building is. Yeah. I would love to get married there."

The Henry Ford in Dearborn is 5th. With all of the choices of backdrop at Greenfield Village to countless artifacts at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation to Lovett Hall – one of Michigan's swankiest ballrooms at The Henry Ford – no two weddings are the same.
