(WXYZ) — Every year there is a surge of marriage proposals during the holidays and Valentine's Day. And with those holidays in the rearview mirror, it's time to start planning those weddings!

So we asked our 7 Action News viewers to weigh in on the best wedding venues in metro Detroit. And they come up with quite a list, everything from classic to industrial to historical to nautical.

Planning a wedding is a big job! That's something Jesse Remson knows. He's planning his wedding with his fiancee, and he knows exactly what he wants. Remson says he and his fiancee are "really, just something that's got a simple elegance".

#7) Bay Pointe Golf Club (West Bloomfield Twp)

Looking for the wedding venue with stunning lake views? Try Bay Pointe Golf Club in West Bloomfield. Located on Middle Straits Lake, Bay Pointe has indoor wedding options along with outdoor and covered outdoor venues. They're 7th on our list.

#6 )The Whitney (Midtown Detroit)

6th is The Whitney in Midtown Detroit. Opulence is the name of the game at this Gilded Age mansion with pink marble and 20 fireplaces. The Tiffany-stained glass windows are great spots for wedding pictures. Metro Detroiter Biba Adams thinks The Whitney is the perfect wedding spot.

"It's beautiful," she says. "Look how Gothic and beautiful the building is. Yeah. I would love to get married there."
