A person with knowledge of the deal says the Detroit Tigers have agreed to trade veteran second baseman Ian Kinsler to the Los Angeles Angels for two minor leaguers.
The 35-year-old Kinsler hit .236 with 22 home runs and 52 RBIs last season, but the rebuilding Tigers no longer need him.
Detroit receives 18-year-old right-hander Wilkel Hernandez and 23-year-old outfielder Troy Montgomery.
The person with knowledge of the deal spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday night because it hadn't been announced.
Kinsler, who the Tigers acquired in the Prince Fielder trade prior to the 2014 season, has a partial no-trade clause that included 10 MLB teams.
In 139 games last season for Detroit, Kinsler hit .236 with 22 home runs and 52 RBI.
#TwitterlessKinsler thank you for all you have done in teaching me how to play the game the right way. I️ wish nothing but the best to you in LA. But 😢😢😢
