DETROIT (WXYZ) -- Tommy Schuster threw two touchdown passes to Martice Bunting and the Chippewa Valley defense stopped Clarkston on a late two-point conversion attempt to win the MHSAA Division 1 championship 31-30 Saturday at Ford Field.

The Big Reds took a 24-10 lead into halftime, thanks to a 94-yard touchdown on a kickoff return by David Ellis.

Andrew Chenault opened the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run in the 1st quarter.

Jacob Honstetter (3 yards), Jake Billette (5 yards), and Jake Jensen (44 yards) all scored rushing touchdowns for Clarkston.

Jensen's touchdown made it 31-30 with 23 seconds remaining in regulation, and Josh Luther was stopped short of the end zone on the ensuing two-point conversion attempt.

This is Chippewa Valley's second state championship in school history, and its first in Division 1.
