(WXYZ) -- Central Michigan announced Tuesday night it signed head coach John Bonamego to a new five-year contract through the 2022 season.
Bonamego is currently in his third season as the Chippewas' head coach. His initial contract was scheduled to run through the 2019 season.
CMU athletic director Michael Alford told the team during a practice Tuesday.

Central Michigan (8-4) faces Wyoming (7-5) in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise on Friday.
