DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Lions have signed former New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola, the team confirmed on Monday morning. The team had been clearing cap space ahead of the start of free agency.

According to Ian Rapoport, the deal will be or $4.5 million with incentives that can bring him to $5.75 million.

Amendola, 33, played with the Miami Dolphins in 2018 and caught 59 passes for 575 yards and one touchdown in 15 games. During a five-year career with the Patriots, he had 230 catches for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Amendola will fit into the slot receiver position as he did with New England and Miami, and will look to replicate what Golden Tate did during his time with Detroit.
