Detroit King football coach Dale Harvel has died.
He led the Crusaders to the state championship last year, in a last-second win at Ford Field.
WXYZ has learned Harvel died of an apparent heart attack.
Harvel helped lead King to the 2007 state title, working on the coaching staff that helped bring the first football state title to a PSL school.
He was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame this past March in Ann Arbor.
Harvel coached at King for 30 years, compiling a 65-24 career record in 33 total seasons.
He took over as the team's head coach in 2009.
