(WXYZ) -- Detroit Mercy has won five straight games and seven of its last eight - the best stretch by the program since the 2011-12 season.

"It just shows the team that we have and the ability that we have," guard Antoine Davis said of the Titans' recent success. "It's exciting to see."

Davis, who earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, is the Horizon League's leading scorer, averaging 22 points per game.

"I take a lot of pride in what he's done lately, and that's shooting with a high percentage," head coach Mike Davis said of his son's play. "He's really worked on his percentages, he's really worked on his technique...and over the last eight games, he's leading our conference in three-point field goal percentage, leading in three-point makes, so I take way more pride in that than anything."

Detroit Mercy (8-8, 7-5 Horizon League) visits first-place Cleveland State (14-5, 14-2 Horizon League) Friday night in a nationally-televised game on ESPNU (9:00 p.m. ET start.)
