Detroit Red Wings sign defenseman Nick Jensen to 2-year extension

The Detroit Red Wings have signed defenseman Nick Jensen to a two-year contract extension, the team announced on Monday.

Jensen, 26, made his NHL debut this season for Detroit and has scored three goals and eight points in 27 games with the team.

He was drafted by the Red Wings in the fifth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and spent three seasons at St. cloud State University, scoring 86 points during his time there.

Jensen is tied for second among team defensemen in goals, and averages 16:05 time on ice this season.

During his time for the Grand Rapids Griffins, he was a plus-51 with 61 points since the 2013-14 season.
