Detroit Red Wings trade Mike Green to Oilers, acquire Kyle Brodziak

DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Red Wings acquired center Kyle Brodziak from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for defenseman Mike Green.

The Wings also acquired a conditional draft pick, which will either fall in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft or the third round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Brodziak has not played for the Oilers this season and is currently on long-term injured reserve.

The 35-year-old skated in 917 NHL games from 2005-19 over two stints with the Oilers, as well as the Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues, totaling 296 points (129-167-296) and 462 penalty minutes.

The Red Wings currently own a combined 17 selections over the next two NHL Entry Drafts, including this acquired pick which could fall in either 2020 or 2021. In the upcoming 2020 NHL Entry Draft, the Red Wings also own their own pick in every round except the fourth, in addition to Washington’s second-round pick and San Jose’s third-round pick.
