Detroit's first PGA Tour champ, Nate Lashley, returns to visit Detroit Golf Club

DETROIT — Nate Lashley made history in Detroit this summer, winning the first PGA TOUR event in the city.

The Rocket Mortgage Classic champ was back at Detroit Golf Club on Thursday, and told us how much the city will always mean to him.

"Brings back good memories being back here at Detroit Golf Club and in the city," Lashley told WXYZ. "It's the place I won my first PGA Tour event, so it's always gonna be a special place."

Lashley visited the club for its 313 Invitataional in support of the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

"Obviously I'll always be back here to play this event," he said.

Lashley won the event in wire-to-wire fashion, after entering the field as an alternate. He started his 2019-20 season with a third place finish at the Greenbrier last weekend.
