DETROIT (WXYZ) — Two of golf's biggest names, Dustin Johnson, and Gary Woodland, will miss the cut at the first-ever Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Johnson, the World No. 2 golfer, and Woodland, the 2019 U.S. Open Champion, both finished at -2 for the tournament. The projected cut as of Friday at 12:30 p.m. was -3, but expected to go up as the afternoon groups tee off.

Woodland shot -3 for the day on Friday following up a +1 first round, while Johnson carded a -1 for both days of the tournament.

Johnson had made 20 straight previous cuts, and this is his first missed cut of the season.

"Wasn't very good," Johnson said after the round. "It just seemed like every time I hit a bad shot, I was in the wrong spot. My good shots were really good, but my bad shots, every time I made a bogey."

"Today was much more under control, I just a little off with the game," Woodland said to the media following his round. "Made a lot of birdies, but made some bad mistakes there. It's frustrating."

Woodland did praise the Detroit fans and the Detroit Golf Club course, saying the energy was great this week and it should lead to a great weekend.

Cameron Champ leads the way following the morning tee times in the second round. He shot a -7 to get to -13 on the tournament. That included shooting a 28 on the front 9, which tied the lowest nine-hole score on the PGA Tour this season.
