DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Rocket Mortgage Classic kicks off with practice rounds on Tuesday, but the PGA Tour has released featured groupings for the inaugural PGA Tour event in Detroit.
The featured groupings will play on Thursday and Friday during the first two rounds of the tournament, with tee times scheduled to be released around noon on Tuesday.
The groups are:
Dustin Johnson, Chez Reavie and Patrick Reed
Johnson is the No. 2 golfer in the official world ranking and currently seventh in the FedExCup standings. Patrick Reed won the 2018 Masters Championship and Reavie won the Travelers Championship just last weekend.
Gary Woodland, Keith Mitchell and Brandt Snedeker
Woodland is making his first start since winning the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach two weeks ago and is No. 5 in the FedExCup standings. Mitchell won the Honda Classic earlier this season and Snedeker is the 2012 FedExCup champion.
Rickie Folwer, Charles Howell III and Kevin Kisner
All three players in this featured grouping have won this season and are inside the top 20 in the FedExCup standings and U.S. Presdients Cup team.
Fowler is a Rocket Mortgage ambassador, while Howell won the 2018 RSM Classic and Kisner won the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Championship in March.
Bubba Watson, Hideki Matsuyama and Billy Horschel
Watson is a two-time Masters Champion, while Matsuyama has appeared in the TOUR Championship for five straight seasons.
