Darius Slay leads the Pro Bowl vote for NFC cornerbacks with one week left in balloting.
The Lions standout has amassed 140,666 votes so far.
Slay has four interceptions this season, which is tied for the lead across the NFL for all cornerbacks. He was a second alternate for last year's Pro Bowl.
According to Free Press reporter Dave Birkett, a Pro Bowl selection "should trigger a $550,000 escalator in Slay's contract for next season."
Here's more from Birkett:
He must hit two of three conditions to activate the escalator:
• A Pro Bowl selection (on the regular ballot, not as an alternate)
• Playing at least 80 percent of the Lions' defensive snaps
• Five or more interceptions this year
Birkett points out Slay is clearly in line to play well over 80% of the Lions plays.
