Former Lions WR Anquan Boldin is retiring from the NFL to focus on the fight for human rights, according to ESPN NFL reporter Jim Trotter.

The Buffalo Bills signed Boldin earlier this month. This would have been his 15th season in the league.

Trotter tweeted this statement from Boldin, explaining his decision to reitre and use his platform to continue his humanitarian work.

Boldin was signed by the Lions in July 2016, and became a free agent after last season.
