DETROIT (WXYZ) -- A day after scoring his first NHL goal, Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha was still beaming as he spoke to reporters.
Mantha found the back of the net late in the second period of Detroit's 4-3 win over Montreal Thursday night.
"Incredible feeling," said Mantha after practice Friday. "I was waiting for many years to get my first one. The day I was drafted, you start to think about it, but it happened yesterday and it's just a great feeling."
Dozens of Mantha's friends and family were in attendance at Joe Louis Arena for Thursday's milestone moment.
"Obviously the whole family was (excited.) Every friend was, every family member."
Mantha grinned when asked about the number of messages he's received since Thursday night.
"I'll be honest, I didn't even reply to all of them. I just wanted to keep last night without my phone. I tried a little bit last night and a little bit this morning, but I still have a lot of answering to do today."
