DETROIT (WXYZ) -- NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman says an All-Star Game or NHL Draft is in Detroit's future - but maybe not right away.
"I'd like to see the District finished," Bettman said Thursday during a press conference at Little Caesars Arena. "So that when we bring guests in from all over the world, they can see what the entire vision was and how it's played out."
But Bettman emphasized that as long as that happens, one or more of the league's marquee events will head to Detroit.
"Whether that's two, three, or four years, when all the construction's done, we will be here with the big events, I have no doubt about that."
The 2018 NHL All-Star Game will be held in Tampa, while the 2018 NHL Draft will be held in Dallas.
