Datsyuk helps make young fan's wish come true

Posted

DETROIT (WXYZ) -- Pavel Datsyuk partnered with Make-A-Wish Michigan to help make a young fan's wish come true at Joe Louis Arena Thursday.

14-year-old Matisin Wieland of Bay City asked to have lunch with Datsyuk and shoot with him on the ice. Wieland has end stage renal disease.

After being introduced to the team, Matisin got a chance to practice passing and shooting with her idol.

Wieland, who enjoys doing trick shots of her own, was asked if she learned anything from Datsyuk.

"Not really, but it was cool."

Wieland and her family are scheduled to attend the Red Wings' home game Friday night.
