The Red Wings held two of the first five picks in the second round, and selected right wing Jonatan Berggren of Sweden and defenseman Jared McIsaac of Canada.
The third round saw Detroit add two more defensemen - West Bloomfield native Alec Regula and Seth Barton of Canada - as well as Swedish goaltender Jesper Eliasson.
Fourth-round selection Ryan O'Reilly shared his excitement with a large contingent of family and friends inside the American Airlines Center. O'Reilly, a right wing, grew up in Southlake, a nearby suburb of Dallas.
