(WXYZ) — Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced that Detroit sports teams license plates are now available for fans who want to get plates featuring the Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons or Red Wings.
Last July, former Gov. Rick Snyder signed a bill into law that allowed the license plates to be available with the funds going to funds supporting each team's charity.
Those charities are the Detroit Lions Charities, Detroit Pistons Foundation, Detroit Red Wings Foundation and Detroit Tigers Foundation. Each works to strengthen communities and benefit kids through recreational and educational opportunities.
To order the plates, you can use the CARS e-service here or find the form for the teams here: Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers.
Once you submit the form and it is approved, the new plate should arrive within 21 days.
