IndyCar's Charlie Kimball visits LCA for Detroit Grand Prix night

DETROIT (WXYZ) -- IndyCar driver Charlie Kimball stopped by Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday for the Pistons' annual Detroit Grand Prix night.

Kimball held an autograph signing for fans on the concourse before the game, and participated in on-court festivities throughout the night.

Kimball, who will return in June for the Detroit Grand Prix at Belle Isle, was thoroughly impressed by his time at the game Wednesday night.

"It's amazing," Kimball said. "And Little Caesars Arena, what an incredible venue. Not just the venue itself, but the District connecting the river, all the way up Woodward. I mean, Detroit's back. It's not on its way back, it's back."

Kimball grew up in southern California watching the Lakers and Clippers, was disappointed he wasn't able to see Blake Griffin in action.

"Seeing Blake Griffin come from the Clippers here to the Pistons - I know he's sitting on the bench with an injury - but what he'll be able to contribute over the years to come means that this arena, this team will come back, just like Detroit did."
