DETROIT — Justin Verlander thinks he knows why his Tigers teams never won it all.
"I think the reason was the time off before the two World Series. I think we had the talent to do it for many, many years," he said on Monday.
Verlander makes his return to the mound in Detroit on Wednesday, and spoke about the past again as he arrived at Comerica Park.
Will this second trip back to Detroit be easier for Verlander?
"I don't think so. I think anytime I'm gonna come back here... it'll be a pretty nerve-racking experience," he added.
