DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Rocket Mortgage Classic is kicking off the practice rounds on Tuesday with a fun event filled with major celebrities and sports figures in what is to be a premiere part of the Detroit Golf Club Course.
The Area 313 Celebrity Challenge will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, and feature three teams of golfers taking on holes 14-16 at Detroit Golf Club in a scramble format. The goal will be to see if either can be the first to register a score of 3 on hole 14, an eagle, a hole in one on hole 15 and a 3 on hole 16, giving them a score of 3-1-3 in that stretch.

Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson will be the captains of their respective teams.

During the tournament, Area 313 is expected to be the epicenter of activity inside and outside the ropes at the Rocket MOrtgage Classic. It includes the 555-yard par-5 14th, the 160-yard par-3 15th and 446-yard par-4 16th hole.
The first player who scores a 3-1-3 on those holes during the entire tournament will will $313,000, half of which will be donated to several youth-based local charities and the other half to a charity of the player's choice.
