Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah has torn a ligament in his foot, according to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter.

According to Schefter, the team believes he will miss the rest of the season. Abdullah was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, but didn't disclose what injury he was suffering from.

He injured his foot in the second quarter of the Lions' 16-15 loss against the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.

In two games this season, Abdullah rushed for 101 yards on 18 attempts and also added five receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Being place on IR means Abdullah will miss at least eight weeks. He had surgery on his foot, and head coach Jim CAldwell said "he's proven to be a quick healer."
