Lions defensive tackle Khyri Thornton has been suspended without pay for the first six games of the 2017 season after an NFL spokesperson stated that he had violated the NFL Policy and Program for Substance of Abuse.
Thornton will be eligible to return to the Lions' active roster on October 16th folling the game in New Orleans.
Thornton is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.
Thornton has played in 19 games for the Lions over two seasons, having started six of them last season.
