Former Pistons general manager Jack McCloskey died Thursday afternoon in Savannah, Georgia. He had been suffering with Alzheimer's, the team said. He was 91.
McCloskey was nicknamed 'Trader Jack,' and built the Bad Boys teams that captured two NBA titles. The Pistons honored him in 2008 with a retirement celebration, adding his name to the rafters.
The Pistons made nine consecutive playoff apperances from 1984-92 under his leadership. They made five straight Eastern Conference Finals trips during that stretch.
He drafted Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, John Salley, and Dennis Rodman. McCloskey also traded for Bill Laimbeer, Vinnie Johnson, Rick Mahorn, James Edwards, and Mark Aguirre.
