BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. — Bloomfield Hills Marian won its second straight team golf state title earlier this month. As soon as the Mustangs knew they locked up the championship, the girls looked back.

There was one key member still at work for another big goal.

Shannon Kennedy was seeking her third individual state title, and was going to need a late push to make it to a playoff.

The senior had to birdie her 18th hole, and talked to WXYZ about the 20-foot putt she needed to sink.

“I was standing over it. I’m like, ‘This hole looks like a basketball hoop.’ There’s no way I’m missing it,” the Marian senior said.

Kennedy knocked it in, and her teammates roared.

"I knew it was in," she said.

The two-time state champion wanted to win her third medal, and had a desire to go first in the playoff. She won the flip, and fired a 275-yard bomb down the middle of the fairway. By the time Kennedy got to the green, she needed a two-putt to seal the deal.
