It's clear Glenn Robinson III had thought a lot about this night.

The Pistons guard spoke Tuesday morning about seeing two of his old buddies on the court, and started a couple answers admitting he reflected on the moment at hand.

"I was thinking this morning, I don't know how many nights we spent, 3:00 in the morning, 2:00 in the morning just in the gym dreaming of this," Robinson said.

Robinson and his former Michigan teammates Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. reunited in Detroit on Tuesday. Burke and Hardaway are emerging performers for the Knicks, five years after leaving Ann Arbor for the NBA Draft. Robinson is in his first year with the Pistons after the Timberwolves drafted him 40th overall in 2014.

"Now all of us playing at an elite level, it's definitely a blessing," Robinson said.

The script wasn't always written this way. But Robinson credits each guy's resolve for their individual success.

"Me winning the dunk contest, they got to see that. Tim signing that big contract, Trey going off for 50-something points, Nik Stauskus doing his thing, you know all of that Michigan group, we see it with Caris (LeVert), we all come together."

Robinson credited John Beilein for getting his game to where it is today.

"He taught us all how to be ready and prepare for this level. I wasn't a great shooter, wasn't a great cutter, any of that before I got to Michigan. Credit to him. He taught me how to play the game."
