(WXYZ) — Oakland and Michigan State will meet again on the hardcourt.

The schools extended their rivalry with a six-year deal, announced Wednesday.

The first matchup will see the Spartans and Golden Grizzlies return to Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on December 14.

"I am extremely excited for this series to continue," Oakland head coach Greg Kampe said in a statement. "MSU is a gold standard in college basketball. With the Big Ten's 20-game conference schedule it would have been easy for MSU to end the series, so I appreciate MSU and Tom for continuing it."

There will be three games at Little Caesars Arena, and three more at Breslin Center in East Lansing.

"This has been a great rivalry and I'm glad that we're going to continue the series," Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said in a statement. "I have a lot of respect for Greg and his program and what he has done at Oakland. We have had a lot of competitive and hard-fought games against them and it's a game that can bring out the best in both teams."
