(WXYZ) — The defending Super Bowl Champions, the New England Patriots, drafted Michigan defensive end/edge linebacker Chase Winovich in the third round of the NFL Draft on Friday night.
Winovich was projected to be a second or third round pick and was taken with the 77th overall pick.
He played our seasons with the Wolverines and had 59 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss and five interceptions for the Wolverines last season.
Winovich was the third Wolverines player drafted this year behind Devin Bush and Rashan Gary. Michigan's David Long was drafted shortly after Winovich with the 79th pick to the Los Angeles Rams.
Long, a defensive back, had one interception and 17 tackles for the Wovlerines last season.
