DETROIT (WXYZ) -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green will miss three to five weeks with a lower-body injury, head coach Jeff Blashill announced Friday.
In a corresponding roster move, Detroit called up Filip Hronek from Grand Rapids, and sent down Brian Lashoff.
"The reason we're making that switch is (Hronek's) skill set obviously, is much more similar to Mike Green in terms of a skater, puck mover, potential power-play guy, although (Niklas) Kronwall will spend some time on the power play in Green's spot as well," Blashill told reporters. "So, we're going to make that switch. (Jonathan Ericsson) looks like he's going to play. And then Wade Megan is still out."
Green has registered 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists) in 23 games this season. He missed the first nine games of the season while dealing with a virus.
