(WXYZ) — Damon Harrison signed a contract extension last August.
Six months later, the Lions are set to release the defensive tackle, according to multiple reports.
Harrison was dominant in his first season with the Lions, helping the run defense in the second half of 2018. But his production waned in 2019, and injuries didn't help.
Releasing Harrison would save the Lions about $6.7 million, Dave Birkett of the Free Press reports (citing OverTheCap.com).
The veteran defensive lineman leaves another hole for the Lions to fill in the draft or free agency.
NFL reporter Benjamin Allbright was first to report the news.
