Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson headlining Detroit's Rocket Mortgage Classic

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Early commitments are starting to come in for Detroit's first-ever PGA Tour event, the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and three huge names have been announced as the headliners for the event. They include Rickie Fowler, current World No. 1 Dustin Johnson and two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson.

The event takes place at the Detroit Golf Club from June 25-30 and tickets are still available at RocketMortgageClassic.com.

“Our player field is beginning to take shape, and it is another exciting sign that the Rocket Mortgage Classic is right around the corner,” said Jason Langwell, Executive Director of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. “With some of the top-ranked players in the world, along with a host of recent major winners and FedExCup champions, the Rocket Mortgage Classic is going to be one of the summer’s most competitive events.”

Other players announced for the event include:

Jimmy Walker - 2016 PGA Championship winner and six-time PGA Tour winner
Jason Dufner - 2013 PGA Championship winner and five-time PGA Tour winner
Kevin Kisner - 2019 WGC Dell Technologies Match Play winner and three-time PGA Tour winner

Aaron Wise
Billy Horschel
Lucas Glover
Charles Howell III
Si Woo Kim
Corey Conners

“I can't wait to get to Detroit for the Rocket Mortgage Classic. The city is known for being one of the country’s best sports towns with some of the most passionate fans around,” Fowler said. “The fans can expect to see some really good golf. I know there will be a huge turnout, which will be an incredible opportunity to showcase the great revitalization that is taking place in Detroit to thousands of fans.”

They expect other PGA Tour professionals to be announced in the coming weeks.
