WXYZ — Major League Baseball has the largest amount of players across its teams, which makes it much harder for rookies to make a huge impression, but when they do, it becomes talk around the league.

St. Clair native Jake Cronenworth had a season to remember for the San Diego Padres.

His batting average was .285, but it was his timely hitting and slugging percentage that gave him the nickname 'Rake Cronenworth."

He was used in multiple positions in the field for the Padres during the shortened 60-game season.

Cronenworth is up for the National League rookie of the year honors.
