Theo Riddick misses second straight practice, Stafford still adjusting to makeshift glove

Posted

Lions running back Theo Riddick missed his second straight practice Thursday, while quarterback Matthew Stafford spent his second straight practice adjusting to a new makeshift glove.

Stafford's new accessory is part of how he plans to deal with the torn ligaments in his middle finger. Stafford injured his finger in the first half of last Sunday's game against the Bears but stayed in for the rest of the game.

Lions offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter says he didn't make any changes to his play calling after Stafford's injury last Sunday, and he doesn't plan on making any this Sunday against the New York Giants.

If Stafford's injury bothers him Sunday, the team could be forced to rely more heavily on their run game. The Lions have been running the ball well, but their backs are banged up. Riddick may not play Sunday, Zach Zenner is in concussion protocol and Ameer Abdullah remains in IR.

Travis Swanson also missed practice today, and DeAndre Levy, Darius Slay, Eric Ebron and Zenner were all limited.
