Tiger Woods hits three golf balls into a pond

BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — At a news conference for the upcoming Quicken Loans National, a tournament he hosts, Tiger Woods told reporters that there is still no timetable for his return to competitive golf.

As a matter of fact he grimaced as he took three warmup swings after sitting in a chair for 30 minutes on a cool, blustery day at Congressional Country Club.

Hitting a ceremonial shot from a forward tee on the par-3 10th hole, he chunked his first attempt into the pond short of the green.

He failed to clear the water on a second try and with officials from his foundation egging him on, he tried one more time.

The last one cleared the pond, but not by enough. It landed on a steep bank and rolled down into the water.

The former World No. 1, who underwent two back surgeries last fall, said that he believes he can still catch Jack Nicklaus for the most majors won. Nicklaus won 18 and Woods has 14.
