Walled Lake Western honored cancer survivors and those who have been touched by the disease in their sixth annual 'Pink Out' game Friday.
Danielle Arsensault served as their honorary captain for the night. Arsenault -- who is just 11 years old -- has survived two different kinds of cancer. She is currently recovering from a bone marrow transplant she had to treat a third form of cancer: leukemia.
Walled Lake Western linebacker Matthew Alanti wore the name "Danielle" on the back of his jersey to symbolize that he was playing for her. Other players had the names of the people they were playing for on their jerseys as well.
Arsenault's mother, Chris, says the whole experience was emotional and overwhelming. Walled Lake Western coach Mike Zdebski says the team is honored to be part of something like this.
