We're celebrating athletes whose senior seasons have abruptly ended.
WXYZ Senior Salutes: We are asking for your senior year sports stories for our Brad Galli and Justin Rose to highlight on TV.
Livonia Churchill swimmer John Ciesinski hit the pool all four years of his high school career, and was looking forward to his postseason banquet. He is autistic, and was set to receive his four-year varsity letter.
John had purchased his jacket, when the MHSAA postponed and ultimately canceled all sporting events. Schools also canceled all in-person extracurricular activities. That meant the reception of his letter would be delayed.
John, we salute you!
Kudos to ESPN's Scott Van Pelt for leading the way in calling for these stories. Our producer Megan Garagiola thought we could showcase some in metro Detroit to share on our platforms.
Please keep sending us your submissions for WXYZ Senior Salutes
