Our Senior Salutes on @WXYZDetroit tonight: Shrine High School girls basketball seniors and Loyola High School's baseball team. pic.twitter.com/83hkHputBP
Julian Penn reached out from Detroit Loyola High School to share a photo of the rugby and baseball teams training together before the coronavirus shut down MHSAA activities.
He told us Loyola's baseball season was big for the program and the players, because it was "going to determine if we enter the Catholic League, so we can actually be in tournaments, gain scholarships, maybe even have amazing colleges look at us."
"This year was needed," he added.
Here's to showcasing their talents on WXYZ so colleges near and far can take a look at their tape.
Guys, we salute you!
Kudos to ESPN's Scott Van Pelt for leading the way in calling for these stories. Our producer Megan Garagiola thought we could showcase some in metro Detroit to share on our platforms.
