Metro Detroit Forecast: Winter Storm Watch for metro Detroit, 4-7 inches of snow likely

A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN FROM MIDNIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY AT NOON. 4-7 INCHES OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED.

Snow will start around midnight Friday night and the first batch will change to rain around noon Saturday. Totals: 4"-7" widespread. The best chance for 7" will be in the northern Detroit suburbs. The best chance for 4" will be in southern Lenawee and Monroe counties. Snow will change to rain Saturday afternoon and then in the evening back to snow with another 0.5" to 1" possible Saturday night.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and cold with lighter wind. Low of 17°. NW 5-15 mph.

Friday: Brightest early then increasing afternoon clouds with a high of 29°.

Friday night: Snow arrives around midnight and becomes heavy after 4 AM. Lows in the mid 20S with SE winds at 10-20 mph.

Saturday: Heavy snow through the morning; changing to light rain in the afternoon. 4"-7" likely around metro Detroit. Plan for slow travel Saturday morning. Watch for slick roads Saturday night and Sunday as temperatures drop well below freezing.
